trunk\box
what kind of box sounds the best in a reg. trunk?....either though it will sound like shit no matter what on the outside..unless there is a way to prevent the nasty rattling sound?

rear facing SEALED box sounds BEST.
rear facing bandpass sounds LOUDEST.
If you want to get rid of the rattling, you pretty much have to remove hte entire spring assembly from the trunk as this is what is making the noise.

There really isn't a true anwser to this. Theoreticly a bandpass design would sound the best or get the loudest.

a bandpass firing forward or through rear deck will work wonders.. you can't hear much outside when the windows are up..

+1. If you have the time and the patience, you will get incredible sound if you port the subs up through the rear deck. But the most common is subs just firing rearward in a sealed or ported box for the reasons mentioned above.
And all rattles can all be fixed. It just takes time to clean them all up. It is not uncommon to even have to completely remove a rear bumper to seal up all rattles behind it. Nothing worse that a jam up system that rattles so much you can't even appreciate the music...

It's also going to vary with your sub. Post up what you've got and that will help too. And the rattling on the outside can be a pain to stop totally, but it's possible for sure. Be prepared to take apart your car and tighten each spot where one part meets another.
