Default console build

Well I need to put my factory radio back into my truck so I can have all of my chimes and onstar back, so I am building a console to house my h/u, EQ, and ipod. It will also house two midrange speakers. As Galamonkey said to me at the PNR car show, I really dont want to cut into this truck too much, so I am trying to make this as removeable as possible. I have already removed the wall in the back window and replaced it with two more 15's. 140.9 wasnt enough for me. also I am in the market for a more powerful amp. I am currently running 1000w to the two 15's (500 each). I am looking around 4000w at 1ohms for all 4. (on a side note, If anyone can lend a bit of help on the best way to wire in a second battery. If i remember correctly, If you wire it series it increases amps, and parallel increases voltage right?) also I have an extra location to put a battery up front, will that matter as opposed to the rear? Anyway back to the console.

More to come soon, that is only one side of it.

Great start but why do you have to reinstall the factory HU? Metra and every other company out there makes interfaces for your truck that will allow you to retain onstar, chimes, turn signals, bose (if equipped-although I would bypass that crap), and everything else from the factory. You can even retain your steering wheel controls.

Over the years, we have switched to all Peripheral interfaces as they seem to have less problems than their Metra counterparts. They cost a few bucks more most of the time but they are much more reliable. Pac also makes a really good interface. Interfaces for GM's will run from $60 to about $125 depending on brand and what features your truck has. Like the other shops here, we have done hundreds of GM HU replacements with full perfect integration-no problems!

Looks like a good start. Just make sure its secured down to the floor of the truck somehow!

you cannot wire a 12v battery in series with another without destroying your truck and everything electronic in it.

You want to wire + to + and - to - and you will double the current capacity. If you aren't using two deep cycle batteries you are wasting your time though - You will be better off with one battery and a HO alternator.

Let me say this: Your work thus far looks pretty good, but I'll never understand the desire for the console speakers and the speakers and horns above your head. But if you like it, thats all that matters. Also please tell me those speakers arent sharing airspace with the subs.
What kind of subs and amps are you using?

no they are not sharing airspace, they are just mounted to the false wall. The top of the sub box is right at the bottom of them.. Thank you for your input. The reason i did them behind my head is because with the wall, there is no point to put them in the rear doors. There really isnt any where else for them. Plus im not going for SQL im in it for SPL, but with music. Bass race style.
