Is it worth installing subs?
I just bought a new car. I have everything to install the subs I have that were going in my other car but never got around to it. So now I have a new car and I dont know if I should put them in or sell them? They would be going into a Civic coupe. When I think of good music I dont think of pounding bass, just a nice clean full sound. The subs are 12" Kicker CVR.
If you're into the quality of sound much more than rocking the block, yes you should still install the subs. Or just even just one sub if you need to save some space. A properly tuned sub is going to add fullness to the sound down in a range where your speakers can't reproduce.

What needs to be done? Everything?
Or do you already have wires run? Because if your wires are already run, it should only take a couple minutes to wire up the amp and subs. Im sure someone on here could do it for you for real cheap.

No wires are ran but I have all the wires and connectors to do it. I just dont know if I should. It has like 1.5" tweeters, 6.5" door speakers, 6x9" deck speakers. Which will be replaced with Polk 6.5" Coaxial 2 way and 6x9" 3 way. Powered by a 52watt x4 amp built into a sony headunit. I think i'm going to pass because I dont feel like running the wires and the sound already sounds pretty good with the stock speakers most likely due to the headunit. Its amazing how much better sound you get from a better head unit. So with the Polk speakers powered by that headunit I think I wont need the subs.
No midrange speaker can replace the output and fidelity of a system with deticated low range speakers.
I would go as far as to say a stock system with a properly tuned sub will sound better than your polk components by themselves.

I just cant see that being true but then again its not in the car to know. Stock speakers are 20watts and the polk are like 175 watts. If someone can do it clean and cheap i'll put them in i guess but I dont care to spend the time taking the carpeting up, head unit out, finding a spot in the firewall and mounting it in the trunk.
stock speakers are made for the purpose of that.. the are specifically made for a job.. tweets for highs.. mids for well midbass and 6x9's for rear.. most stock systems the ones that are worth anything.. have decent midbass and replacing just the speaker is a waste in the fact that you will be losing a big part of your sound spectrum.. the stock was made with out a sub included so there are speakers in there that provide some of that..

It doesnt matter if you are running a set of 2000 watt midrange speakers - a 6" cone cannot accurately reproduce 60hz sound at the same time its producing 1khz sound.
You need dedicated sub response and dedicated mid range and dedicated high freq all with properly tuned crossovers in order to have a good sounding system.
As far as cheap goes, that's relative. I wire amps for $40, I think MCOR and most of the other regulars in here will do the work for a similar price.
