DEI does actively pursue sellers of DEI products through online auctions. They are very agressive about it but it runs so rampant, they claim they can't keep it all out. This is a common conversation among authorized retailers. They actually have an attorney that shuts down auctions with the help of eBay sighting intellectual rights acts. You can read about it under the help section. These people are called trans shippers and they get their product in various ways. DEI purchases their product back sometimes in the auction from sellers who have a ton of new unauthorized stuff to sell all of the sudden. They track the serial numbers down and you would be amazed at where it comes from. Something like 20% of the merchandise was refurbished but packed in stolen retail boxes (instead of the plain white REFURB ones). Like another 20% of it is stolen from the manufacturer or a retailer. And the rest slipped into the market in various ways (crooked dealers selling out the back door to large companies like Sonic Electronix, etc).

That being said, we have installed tons of this DEI Viper stuff that is brought in by customers from eBay/Amazon and we rarely have problems with it. We do carefully inspect it first and show the customers if it was a refurb product, second run, or some other crap like that and let them decide if they want us to proceed.

Where we have allot of problems is the video/navigation head units like Pioneers, Eclipses, etc. Many of those customers were TR members (feel free to share your stories!). I would definately stress to stay away from that stuff on the auction sites as they are commonly sold as new when in actuality they were used, refurbished, clearly repaired badly, etc.

/\ God, I just HATE scumbags that are out to steal someone else's hard-earned-money! Didn't we just talk about that shit today, Matt? Make me sick that these people claim to be HUMAN and even worse - American! Sorry for the off-topic (ish) rant...

I'd love to put something like this with a set of power windows on my Work Truck Someday

interesting add ons, wouldn't the shock sensor in the alarm pick up on window breaking? even if not, when the door opens, the alarm should go off. the motion sensor is pretty neat, unless you park where alot of people will walk close close to your car.

sounds like a fun install

This is a microwave sensor that pushes a radio signal in all directions in the shape of a bubble. When something comes into the bubble and moves, the reflection of the signal back on the unit changes and triggers the sensor. depending on the size and speed of the object it either sends to the warn away or full trigger output.

The advantage is that someone who is just looking into your windows can be warned that the car knows they are there even if they dont make any vibrations. Since a shock sensor relies entirely on vibration to sense intrusion, your window will already be broken before it goes off.

Another advantage of a microwave sensor is that they are immune to noise so when someone with a loud exhaust or annoying stereo system goes rumbling by, your alarm will not false trigger.
- Programmable Voice System 516L
This lets you put your own voice into the alarm and/or to have the alarm say things like "Alarm armed" "doors locked" "trunk open" and "Help vehicle violation!" yeah seriously, it says that.
- Window Automation System 530T
The window automation is by far my favorite toy - it rolls your windows up and down by remote. It automatically rolls the windows up when you arm the alarm.

It also will roll your windows up when you remote start the engine And if equipped with a rain sensor, will roll the windows up if they are down and it starts raining.

- Viper Electro-Luminescent Indicator 620V
Just a cool light that glows when the alarm is armed
- 2-Way Garage Door Interface 519H2
Most garage door openers use a simple fixed binary signal to open the garage. That signal can be intercepted by any number of devices(an AM/FM radio with simple mods can pick it up) and then be used to reproduce the signal and open your garage unauthorized.

Most modern car alarm remotes use something called code hopping which randomly rotates the encryption hash used to send signals to the brain. This part ties your alarm remote into your garage door opener so that you can take advantage of the code hopping feature.

This is the only part I haven't installed, it looks really fun and useful.

so if you do not have this add-on and a car with a loud exhaust or system goes by, the alarm will go off?

so the window would be broken before the alarm even goes off?? so whats the point in having this part? im just a lil confused lol

and thanks for answering all my questions!!

Yes to the first part and it's possible to shatter a windows without any vibration.
