Why buy a 4 year old nav deck that doesn't even play dvd's and your maps will be greatly outdated? Not to mention downgrading from Eclipse to Pioneer.

(Unless you are getting a new map disk with the sale then disregard the outdated comment)

Stop wasting your money and buy one good thing, instead of a bunch of old or crappier decks.

Agreed fully. The D1 has so many shortcomings compared to even the D3 let alone the newest Pioneer F900BT's. I understand budgets but save up a few more bucks and you can have something really nice. Cost has come down so much over the years that buying used stuff really isn't worth it anymore IMHO.

I didn't buy it guys.. calm down.. I traded my eclipse for it.. The eclipse only cost me 325.. I got the avic d1 and ipod controller which was the main thing i wanted.. and it does what I need.. I can always update the maps anyways.. and buy an external dvd player...

and nothing is Crappy about either.. especially for the price i payed..

and shortcomings such as what? besides dvds.. i don't care about that.. I don't have people watching movies in my car.. even so i can grab an external player and connect it...

slow response and lack of standard features like USB host, blutooth integration, and an integrated hdd.

nice things like 802.11g and a flashable ROM storage for the maps and POIs are also becoming standard.

I would disagree that getting a Pioneer is downgrading from an Eclipse. Pioneer is just as good if not a better brand than Eclipse.

You sir, have bumped your head firmly today. Please see a doctor to be sure the damage is not permanent!
Having used tons of both, there is nothing even close when talking about sound quality or build quality of the unit. Eclipse's main issues have always been that people find the units ugly, and somewhat hard to use. But quality of sound and product?? It's like racing a Hayabusa with a Pinto.

Gotta agree with luke_81 on this one. Although we sell more Pioneer's than really any other head unit, that is just because we don't currently have a strong clientelle that will spend the extra bucks on the Eclipse pieces. Eclipse is hands-down a better unit when it comes to features. It is a much higher end piece than the Pioneers. Pioneer is a great piece however, but you do get what you pay for. Eclipse is more audiophile quality and Pioneer is more run-of-the-mill stuff. Again, we sell tons of the Pioneer stuff and it is user-friendly and attractive, but it is not Eclipse!
