not all HU's are the same/as good as others, but for stock speakers, I'd go with a cheap one (nothing over 80 bucks or so) then you'll need an adapter, and a face plate kit, so you'll spend about 100 bucks.

 

I LOVE hearing audio/video/any advice from ANY Radio Shack employee. You can go to 10 different stores, and get 10 different answers. I have had customers over the years tell me some of the wildest most untrue stories/theories you wouldn't even believe.

Once in a blue moon, and only in a very tight pinch, we will be out of something and need it that minute and I have to unfortunately go around the corner to the local Rat Shack and begrudgingly pick up a part. I try to get in and out quick and if I am stopped, I just tell them about the audio/video shop that I own around the corner if they don't already know us. Shuts them up EVERY TIME!

 

I know I am reviving the dead with this thread but I was wondering if you every got the HU out? I am asking because I was at one of the new car dealers we service the other day and my installer had to pop in an amplified stereo antennae. I remembered this thread and sat in for a minute to be sure it was as easy as I remember.

I must say, the directions I posted above were dead-nuts on. It took him under two minutes to have the radio out and on the floorboard. The only part I can think of that you may have had trouble with it was because you have to use some "smart" strength (not "retard" strength as we call it) to pop loose the shifter bezel. But, he just uses a pick and works his way around it popping each clip loose one at a time.
