i have a 2008 model Sony head unit with the iPod interface and i've been using my first gen 2GB iPod nano. I'm thinking about buying an 8gb touch to have more space and more to do at school with it when im bored but i want to be sure i can use it in my car with the iPod connection.

Anyone know?

 

i dont see why not. pick it up and look to see if the connectors are the same.. its as easy as looking at the bottom..

 

It will connect just fine. The only thing that really changes on the newer models is some of the "language" that Apple feels the need to continuously update-therefore effectively keeping the aftermarket struggling to keep updating also. Usually only the touch screen aftermarket HU's are the only ones that may have some problems in my experience (Pioneer navigation models, Jensen touch screen, etc). If you want to be absolutely, call Sony tech support and ask them. I am forever on the phone anymore with these companies as my customers want me to guarantee compatibility before installing in their vehicle!

kenwoods brand new nav piece is the only thing compatable with ipods new touch stuff , that i know of and you have to download the software, but i havent dealt with the touch much yet mcor has good advice

Got my 8GB Touch in the mail today, works fine with the HU. While it's connected you can still use all the functions of the iPod except when u go to Music it just shows "Accessory Connected" or something.

Pretty sweet, i would guess the new Touch's should work too.
