Default Need someone to help select and install a subwoofer system

The car is a 1999 Buick LeSabre Custom. I have a Pioneer Premier deck. All already installed and working properly.

I need someone to help me select a sub and enclosure and an amp to match. Sub doesn't have to be big, I DON'T want something obnoxious or even loud enough to rattle the car. I just need a sub with excellent clean sound (from the trunk) to give the Polk Momos some low end compliment. I already have a cheap set of wires from Walmart...may need to buy some better wires, I dunno. Then I need them to install it. Will buy new or used parts, depending on what the monkeys here are tossing around at the time.

Who wants what to install it? Please, don't bother if you're just a part-time hackjob installer. I need the install done clean, properly, and with NOTHING broken in the process.

So you just need someone to install the sub or what? Or you need all new power wire ran and all of that?

I recommend notladstyle if he's willing to do it.

As far as shops to go to:

T&J Elite's or MCOR. Depending on your location. They're both very good shops.

LOGIC? You seriously want to invoke logic in a conversation about fake hijackings, missiles hitting the pentagon, and bombs planted throughout the world trade center? I thought it was a given that logic was checked at the door when entering one of these threads.

If you looking for something cheap just for the low-end, I would reccomend some Sundown SD-1s, they are on a blowout sale right now. Sundown SD-1 Subwoofer Blowout Sale - SSA:

I would also reccomend a Sundown 100.2 ... Even with 2 subs and that amp everything should be less than $400 for equipment.

If you aren't at all sure what brand you want in sub/amp, I would suggest swinging by the shop and looking at the merchandise on-hand or thumbing through the catalogs (whether it is at my shop or one of the others here). Once you decide on the sub, that will dictate the enclosure and amp necessary to achieve what you are looking for. As far as WalMart wiring goes..... If you haven't opened it and it is returnable, I would rather see you use what we do in the shops (at least DB Link or something equivalent-it will be less than you paid at WalMart but of a much better "pro" quality). Install is cheap and simple to keep clean once you choose your equipment with the level of bass you are looking for. You are right though, stick with an independant shop or at least someone reputable from these forums (Dalton aka NotLadStyle). You will stay within your budget and get a quality install...

Nothing is gonna flow and look clean in that trunk except fiberglass in a corner.

I would get a 10w3, good value good price, with reasonable box requirements.

A fiberglass box in the corner = $$$$$$$, too, right? I remember you brought up making a box, mounting the amp on top of it, and putting a lip there to hide the amp. A JL 10w3, what kind of amp do you recommend? You feel up to the task?

Yup, still returnable. I'll bring it back and get a refund and just get the better wires from a shop. I like the way the JL 10 sounds, but I dunno if there is anything better out there. Whats the deal about the Sundowns that the727kid recommended?

The whole shebang. I need a ground drilled and mounted, power wire ran, RCAs ran, and a remote ran.
