db meter !!!!!
i've never seen anything cheap that will read above 130db. if you want to get serious, you can always use what the pros do. here's what's used in most spl sanctioning bodies:

Take a cheap 134db walmart meter and get a constant sound level from your stereo then layer some type of insulator over the mic until you are like -20db and then take the difference and viola you got a 154db meter.
of course it will only be accurate to +/-10% but it sure beats $400 for a term lab.
