Default i need an isolator..

alright guys be on the look out for me...im looking to add another battery and i dont wanna kill my alt.... sooo i would like to get an isolator...anyone know a show that has one cause my job cant order one....:/ toby u got anything?

what is your goal? Adding an extra battery shouldn't 'kill' your alternator, unless it is nearly dead now.

If you just want extra electrical storage, you can wire them in parallel, or get a relay like dalton said.

If you are looking for extra reserve capacity, like playing the system with the car not running, and want to ensure that your main battery can still start the car, then you need some sort of real isolation...either a diode based alternator, or a smart relay setup.

I have used all of these methods, and can get you the parts for any of them.

oh crap forgot abouyt using a relay....heh....i only want to have extra electrical storage.....but i still dont know how to wire it....ive never had to do it yet... any info would help a little bit..

just wire up a relay to your ignition wire and put it between the alternator charging wire and the second battery.
