Default Big 3 ? well Big 1

im about 98% done with wiring just waiting on a few more parts to come in.My question is im planning on running 4g wire from the (+) Alt to the Battery (+) I read on the12volt.com mixed opinions on fuseing this wire or just running the wire straight from the Alt to the Battery. What do you guys think? or runnning the wire from the alt to the factory 80A fuse,i already put a 4g wire on the other side of this fuse going to the battery.reason im upgrading is the car is a 90 eclipse and these cars dont have very good electrical systems to begin with. will post pics soon like to hear some comments on what you all think of my install.

I'm pretty sure we didn't fuse the 2ga wire we ran on my now 'junked' old car, I don't really think it makes a difference either way anyways.

Just throw it in straight.

yes it does help... i did the big 3 mod with 4 ga. keep your existing wires on there as well. i did the battery to the ground, my engine ground straps, and the alt to the battery. my system use to hit so hard at a red light it would hit 9volts and turn off the radio and my truck a few times.. but now it doesnt drop below 11volts. and i have a optima red top, (2) 2 farad caps, 2 hifonics brutus 3000x1@1ohm and 4 alpine Type-r's and a worked over factory 145 amp alt...time to go to a 300 amp tho

no one said it didnt or doesnt help...

your system is incredibly overtaxed, you need to fix something wrong with your alt AND get a 2nd deep cycle battery.... junk those caps, they're useless

did you fuse the alt to batt or run it straight?

I could be wrong but i think P057 was refering to the wire being fused or not. Just by reading about resistance wire size etc it would have to be better in some ways even if you cant tell if it made a difference.

no it doesnt need a fuse... without the vehicle running, current cant run threw the alternator with it not spinning so it stops there...
