Default Help?

Hi this may be a dumb question but could I use the stock head unit and use a 100 watt 4 channel amp for 4 5x7 speakers? and how do I wire it all up? Just starting to learn about all this stuff any help is appreciated

You need to run a power wire from the battery to the amp, 8 gauge would be suffcient for 100 watt amp, make sure it is fused close to the battery though. You also need to ground the amp, find a solid part of the car withing a foot or so of the amp and sand it down to shiny metal and make that your ground. You need to run RCAs from the HU (front and rear) to the amp and also a remote wire from the HU to the amp (typically blue wire on HU). Lastly you need to hook your speakers up to the amp and set the gains. Go to JL Audio and watch the gain setting tutorial.

most stock headunits dont have rcas so what u have to do is run it threw ur highoutput on the amp i think its 5 or 6 wires that plug into the amp

if you head unit doesn't have rca outs (low outs) then just go to an audio store or even wallmart and pick up a line out convector and run the high speaker outs to that and then rca's from it to the amp

you have to tell us what kind of car? - what factory system is in it - bose - or any the other crap - then we have a better idea on how to start -
i would use the jl audio hi-low piece (i think one is for sale in the 4sale forum)

thanks for all the input guys but my cuz hooked me up with a 10'' sony xplod so I am going to buy a new h/u but thanks for all the help awsome forum!
