Go with 3/4. You'll lose very little airspace. Anyways, if you do a whole box with just a jigsaw, well uh I hope you have a very accurate eye and steady hand. Tablesaws FTW.

Jigsaws are the ghetto way of building boxes. Get Home Depot to cut it and just make sure they do it right. Not that difficult.

Bring your own tape measure and draw the lines for them. Then fiberglasds the inside of the box.

Ghetto? for once u sound stupid John Jigsaws are the bread and butter of car audio.

once again, home depot will not make precision cuts. unless you like air leaks, get an inline or use a jigsaw.

lmao homedepots cuts are going to be less airtight then your jigsaw?? dude go to homer and have them cut it, double check your stuff before you go.. they WILL recut if you specifically tell them a size and they cut it wrong.

they throw it up on a wall cutter - even someone putting effort into it will be 2~3mm off and thats enough to make a gap in a panel.

And yes, if you have ANY skill with your hands a jigsaw cut will be as clean and accurate as the line you drew to follow. I'd say a powerful enough jigsaw will be at least as accurate as a circular saw.

I'd get ahold of a friend with a table saw, hole jig, and bring that jigsaw with. Any straight cuts I would never use a jigsaw on (you'll end up siliconing the hell out of that box and still not be airtight). Jigsaws are made primarily for complex cuts and will rarely produce a cut similar to what a table saw can.

Home depot fucked my cuts for my girlfriends box. Something was wrong with the blade and was cutting the mdf at an angle. I used a shitload of liquid nails to make it work but it was a pain in the ass.

wall cutters cannot cut mdf to more than a few mm of acuracy. Its not that the operator cant do it, its that the blade is so massive and theres no means for error correction.

I dont know why anyone would suggest it.
