use depending on where you want the bass tethered to. if you use the rears, when you fade rear the bass will stay with them. if you use fronts the bass will stay with the fronts.

what do you mean power but no signal?

whichever one is for "subwoofer" If there isnt one designated and you are not amping your speakers, just use either one (i prefer rear).

If your amplifier isn't getting a signal, make sure that your have your RCAs tightly connected as well as the speaker leads to and from the subwoofer itself. Make sure that your gains are not all the way down nor all the way up, start em out at the center and then lower them and raise them accordingly.

Some amplifiers (like mine) have switches on them that could potentially shut off the signal to the subwoofer. For example if you have a switch that allows you to select between 2v-4v and 5v-8v preamp voltages -- make sure to try both settings to make sure you're using the right one. Also make sure you do not have a master/slave switch if your amp is connectible to another one. Make sure its set to master.

Also make sure in your options to select that you're using an amp/subwoofer amp and then raise the subwoofer volume.

The liitle light on the amp is on but no sound and my connections are all good. I was thinking it may be a problem with the RCA outputs on the back of the headunit, since its an older unit?

could be a number of things - you need to connect the amp to a headunit you know to be good and work from there backwards(meaning if the amp makes sound on a headunit you know is good then check the RCA cables you ran, then the amp itself, sub wiring...)

Also check to see if the amp has a protect light. I once had an older viper amp that had the protect light as red and the power light as blue and it would come on red and I thought It was on because I had never installed a viper amp. turns out the fuse was blown and it would immediately turn red so I never knew it was supposed to be blue...

Alright, I guess I should put up something beings how I was the one helping Will... This is my old amp and sub that I had in my vehicle and before that we had it in another buddy's for a couple weeks...The amp does not have a "master" kill switch but does have a LED status indicator (shows power/protect) and it is always on "power". The amp also has a built-in crossover which is set pretty nominal right now...

The main concern is that the pre-amp outs on the haedunit arn't working... I'm gonna try it in another car in a day or so, but I don't understand why pre-amps would just go bad..?

use a 1.5v battery to check the amp inputs.
