Default Tuning system ????'s

just wanted to know if the way Im tuning my system in is the rt way.....For the mids and highs I take and turn the gain down all the way on the amp and turn my radio to 35 (all the way up) and then I slowly turn the gain up until the speakers are at peak with no distorting...Is this the correct way to do it or should I not turn the radio all the way up and tune from a lower level say like 30(volume)...and the subs the same way??? Any help is very appreciated
Thanx
-Chris

That is one way. A more accurate way is to use a DMM and set them with that and test tones (1khz for mids)

turn all your gains down real low. Start at the head unit & turn it up till it starts to have a little distortion & then turn it till it is a little below distortion & then go to the next device in line from their.
example: Head unit------ eq------ crossover-------amps
Always turn it all down & start at the head unit & work your way throught the system from their all the way to the amps...

If I turn my gains all the way down, and my HU up, I dont hear very much at all

All you are doing is listening for the head unit to start to distort & then you go throught the rest of the system & do the same. You dont have toi have the gains completely down but real low & listen closely

Go buy a DMM for $20 and do it right.

I wouldn't necessarily say that's the "right" way to do it...

It is the most accurate way without using an o-scope.
