Default 30" stadium loudspeaker?

I had a buddy once.. a few months ago, dont talk to him much anymore, who had just bought a piece of crap car with a piece of crap audio system in it, had one of those really nasty bandpass rigs. forgot what brand. Anyways i was grilling him on it and he said somethign that i couldnt stop thinking about for a while. He said he was planning on getting something like a 30 inch rectangular stadium loudspeaker to use as a subwoofer, I was pretty sure he was full of shit but i humored him and let him have his fun.

First off, I'd like to know how it'd be possible to even power a thing that big, not to mention actually even fit it in his little junker car.

Where the hell would he get something like that

And do they actually even make sizes that big?

As far as i know, stadium speakers are just big speakers 12" or so, paired up and have like 5 boxes facing in different directions hanging from somewhere...

LOGIC? You seriously want to invoke logic in a conversation about fake hijackings, missiles hitting the pentagon, and bombs planted throughout the world trade center? I thought it was a given that logic was checked at the door when entering one of these threads.

There is a 30" sub or two out there. I think Audiobahn made one.

As far as stadium speakers...I don't think they're that big.....more like a 15 or 18" speaker with a mega phone attached.

And the box you would need for a 30" sub would have to be about the size of a bread truck. Not to mention probably 20k watts.

Oh yeah, OK. Well you tell him goodluck. And where the hell do you get a stadium speaker anyways? Commercial audio equipment costs about 30x what normal stuff does.

i had installed some 22" (4) in the back of a vw sharraco (spelling?) back in the day, they were from concert cabinets, i think they need 8 cubs per sub - all i know i glued 2 sheets of 1" birch together and built the box out of that with 2x4 for bacing - real loud - sounded good from 50 feet away -
he had no backseat and the could not see out the back of the hatch - stupid - but fun

One of the questions in the topic was where would you get one of these john, hahahah.

yeah and he was thinking of putting it in THIS....

1990-1992 ford tempo

I swear, he really needs to lay off the alcohol, weed, cocaine, shrooms, and ex....
I'm still not even sure if his tempo can even run, he always asks for rides everywhere.

i sat in it once while he put his subs at full volume which sounded like 1/3 of my max and horribly distorted.
