Bought a New Headunit
well, the mod bug keeps bitting my ass! So, I just bought a new headunit.
I got the Pioneer AVIC-D2. Should be here by about Wednesday! I'll have pics up when the install is done.

it'll be going into my 2000 Lincoln LS
Right now it's the stock Alpine system w/6 disc CD changer.
The setup i'm gonna put together is:
2 JL Audio 12w3v3
2 JL Audio 500.1
Searching the internet to get some ideas of installation of them as far as box and location.
BTW, no sisters, 3 older brothers, lol

seems like 500 each speaker would be overkill... aren't they rated at 300 rms?
edit: i suppose you could just gain the bastards down. i think the more important question here is why are you opting for 2 500/1's when you could just get 1 1000/1

It was suggested to me that 2 amps for 2 subs is better than 1 amp for 2 subs.
500w rms on a 12w3 is definetly pushing your limits. Now if that was a Boss 500w or a Rockwood 500w, you might be ok. I'd be vaaaawee careful. /elmer fudd voice

for a daily driven sub, nearly doubling it's rms rating isn't all that good. you might get... maybe 2 db from it. maybe. i don't really see the advantage in voiding your warranty either.
