Batt terminal rust
My battery terminal is fairly new and rusting already, what sort of spray do i get to prevent that shit/stop it or whatever?
I really hate scrubbing it off with a wire toothbrush thing and pouring baking soda crap on it. it grows back in like 10 seconds =\.
Is there some sort of protectant i can spray on it or something?
If so, how should i go about applying it? leave it connected and still spray it on or disconnect the neg terminal?
thanks

they make cleaning spray thats sold at autozone use that a wire brush then clean it off with water and wipe it dry you don't need to unconnect the battery
it comes back every now and then just get use to it

Walmart usually has the stuff too. There's a cleaner and protectant, use a wire brush to clean things up a bit first though.

Dont waste time with that crap, get a non lead-acid battery and have zero corrosion forever.

$90? thats a great price. Or you could pay your broke friend $5 or a pack of smokes everytime to go out and clean your terminals. Get one of those terminal cleaners if you are using a normal wire brush. 99 cents

I still might get either a 2nd battery (most likely stinger if i go that route) or an optima to replace my lead acid. Decisions decisions.
I had my leadacid checked when i got my terminals replaced and it was in perfect condition, holding proper charge, etc etc. Its only a year old (new when i bought the car) and good brand.
Thanks for all of the replies.

If you actually disconnect the terminals(unlike someone else suggested), and clean both the terminal and the post GOOD with a terminal brush(cheap, as Dana pointed out), then spray it with the anticorrosive red spray(the little rings they sell at the battery section help ALOT as well), it will actually last a while.
If you do that, it will probably be MONTHS before you have to do it again.
If you halfass it, you will probably have to do it every week. Its kind of like rust. Unless you totally get rid of it during the repair, it comes back 10 times as fast.

Now there's some logic!
