2003 Mitsubishi Outlander Audio Install
Heres a basic audio/video install I did a few days ago. I was impressed on what she was able to purchase within a $650 budget.
The headunit is a JVC with a 3" lcd screen and plays dvd/cd/mp3 files. I also added a CD changer under the passenger seat I didnt get a pic tho.
The Front speakers are Alpine Type-R Coaxials. They needed the included adapter plate to clear the window motors. They offer impressive sound even with the stock crossover system still in place. I glued the crossovers in the doors and soldered every connection point to ensure corrosion wouldnt reduce the signal quality over time. note the wires are bound and routed along the bottom of the door to avoid getting caught in the window gearing.
The rear speakers are Type-R coaxials which because of the stock crossover system, only produce bass.
The amp is the Alpine MRD-f345 75wrms x 4 channels. The crossovers are not set because of the stock crossover system. She may later have me bypass the stock crossovers. It is grounded to the seat bolt (of course sanded) via 4ga wire.

The visor LCDs are 9" ebay monitors I added yesterday. besides being black on grey they look clean and are VERY clear picture even in daylight.
The headunit sticks out about 3/4 of an inch but since the interior is so large it isnt noticable. I wouldnt recommend this particular headunit in a sedan because its so bulky though.
Her future plans include a ground FX kit and HID lights.
Excuse the amp wiring - I am ziptie and solder happy and I ran out of black ones while I was routing the wires.

I'd rather flexloom or etape than zip tie.. they just get snagged too much.
and I would have avoided the xovers in the door, just personal preferance, I've had waterlogged xovers before.
Other than that, looks good.

Time will tell tho, ive put them in the doors in all but one install and I havent been called to move one yet.I'm not using E-tape yet because this it the 4th time I've been out to work on her car and I'm almost positive she's gonna want a subwoofer, rear tweeters, headrest LCDs, and the ground FX put on soon. Taping it up would b a big hassle when i had to add wiring. I might go get some large wireloom and put that on next time tho.

Too bad those crossovers in the doors will still corrode.
Not that it will make a big difference, I usually do it that way too and have only had a handful come back because of malfunction....usually takes years though.

How'd she manage to get those visor LCDs so cheap? (ask her ) and they look really nice, I might think to get one or two if they're cheap enough.
I'm jealous of those and the 4ch amp haha.
As for the crossovers in the doors, i've never had problems with those. what i generally end up doing anyways is completely wrapping them in duct tape to really insulate them against weathering.
