ok i have a 96 civic that has factory 6X9's(hard to come by meaning that when you do a search at crutchfied there is only like 4 6X9's that fit) im wanting to get a 6 1/2 component set up to put back there but i dont understand how that would work since it holds a 6x9 really well...any ideas how i can get 6 1/2 in the back?

 

yeah custom make mounts to hold them like in a kick panel. or get a 6x9 component system?

 

1. Make your own adapter from ABS plastic. Any 6x9s will drop in, its just a matter of depth with the trunk bars, in which case there are spacers to make em fit in most cases.
2. Don't listen to crutchfield's fit guide.
3. Components will have no benefit over coaxials in the rear.
4. You don't need rear fill anyway. Spend your money on the front stage.

 

well i dont like the factory, they sound like shit, so i have to get something so you can hear that what are saying and so on instead of just distortion.and i also dont want the 6X9's b/c they have alot of bass, i dont need bass at all need more mid and high's tats why i was going to go components.

 

Put nice components up front, amped with a decent head unit first. There is NO reason to put components in the rear. Get coaxials. Your tweeter in a rear component set would be mounted right next to the speaker, so explain to me your logic there in why it would benefit you.

 

LoL well i was going to go with the components since there is better highs and mids in them than some 6X9's( as said i dont need the bass i have a 12 with 600x2 to it, which is great for me) but i also like highs, and in the front i have some kicker 6 1/2's they sound good i would like to put them in the back if possable and not too m uch trouble.but it isnt appearing that way, and i guess im still kinda new to the sound or mayB im just having a blank day but what exacptly do you mean by coaxailes?

Components have a separate tweeter meant to be mounted separate from the speaker, like in front, to raise the sound stage up. No need in the rear.

I agree...don't waste alot of money on rear speakers. Any name brand coaxial will do. Drop the cash on your fronts and amp. Alot of competition SQ vehicles don't even use rears.

 

If you're hell bent on rears just get some some cheap ones, and run off deck power. It makes no differance. If anything I'd take them out and leave the grilles on so you can have the bass pass thrut eh rear deck easier.
