I'm currently looking to buy a car alarm system. What brand or model should i look into? I have a $200 budget.

Most alarms made by DEI are good. With only 200 bucks you will just get the alarm and the remote entry (if you have auto locks). If you go the cheap route you might be able to get remote start. But in alarms it pays to get the best.

Viper,Python and Clifford are made by DEI. I have a Viper alarm. Alarm, keyless entry, trunk release, remote start. It works great.

+1. Or any other Audiovox product, or CrimeStopper, or Autopage, or anything besides DEI.

I've used code alarm and crime stopper. The older code alarms worked good when installed properly. My last crime stopper lasted 3+ years before it started glitchin up.

buy dei, I have 2 cars currently with viper alarms, I reccommend and install the dei systems in my familys cars. look on ebay and you can get a sweet deal for the alarm, then either install yourself ( it's really not that hard) or hook up with someone that knows what they are doing and will help you do it in trade for pizza and beer.

I have the 800 esp on one car and it works great, this is the 550esp but just as reliable http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Viper...24720923QQrdZ1

This is what I have in my current daily driver, $400+++ if you buy retail.
