Default Need Help with buying a system

I'm trying to buy a system for a Xmas gift but not sure what to buy....looked around and learned i dont know whats good or bad or what i need to power what and so forth....all i need is a head unit, subs, and an amp. the most i can spend is 500 but the lesser the better of course. any input of what i should get and where to get it would be appreciated. thanks

look around online... depending on what you really want, just get a decent/basic head unit (look used on TR or somthing). if you can get some type of kicker, alpine, mtx or any real name brand like that (not sony or jensen) that would be nice.. if you have any questions just pm me.
