I prefer silk, but there is no "better". My ears cant decide for you.

silk, its compound allows it to reach higher volume levels w/o producing the harsh "tap" that aluminum tweeters do. That tap is caused by the snaping of the aluminum back into place after each throw (remember that tweeters are just really small speakers and work on the same priniples). Silk is much more flexible and when it returns to its origional shape it doesn't produce distortion, making it sound much much better.

well, in my experience there is nothing bad about silk except the cost. Usually just the tweeter (quality name brand) costs over $100 for a pair. Power handling usually has nothing to do with the cone material so a slik tweeter can handle just as much as an aluminum.

hey thanx guys. i went with the silk. now i need a double din DVD/NAV/MP3/touch screen.

any recomendations in the 17-2000 range

Eclipse AVN5435. or 5495 if you want to be a big baller.
