So, I think my Kenwood DMask finally bit it
After 7 years of faithful service, I am certain my well loved Kenwood DMask head unit bit the big one. It refuses to do anything but try to eject the faceplate. Every connection is solid, there is no dirt in the unit or any broken soder points anywhere in either the face plate or from what I saw in the unit itself.
Could the ribbon have broken/have a break in it? I'm going to have to get another radio, but I would just like to know how my great old friend died.

Usually when the ribbon cable breaks, the unit still has output, just the faceplate doesnt do anything, i.e you cant control it. But who knows.
7 years is a very long life though. RIP

It basically clicks the amp on for a second then just sits there, blank faced. After 2 minutes, it kicks the faceplate down like you turned off the car and want to retrieve the faceplate. Ugh. RIP old friend.
thats a long time, especially for a d mask.. those were some of the worst designed motorized faces... normally its a year or two...
