Default Need help with an S2000

Wellmy friend has an S2000 and he wants a system in it. He really just wants his highs/mids louder and definitely clear and some better bass. From first glance it seems like he has some 5.25s in the doors with tweeters so I told him we could replace those with a decent set of components and then just add an 8" sub or something for some bass since he has limited room. Now what are some suggestions? Any help would be appreciated, especially with the sub setup. Thanks alot.

if you can fit a tube, do some type of little 8 or 10 inch tube with a decent set of componets

a tube wouldnt sound too hot in a convertable. Ive seen the center panel modified to cut into the hard top storage space and used as an enclosure. I think if you just sealed that little cubby in the middle up it would be enough for a lil beat in there.

I just put diamond audio Hex's in my S2000. i used the 6.5" version and did some custom adapting.

as for a sub...

easiest is the JL stealthbox that replaces the styrofoam jack/tool holder in the bottom of trunk. but then you have to find a place to mount the amp. alot of people are mounting them on top of the gas tank (to the left of the spare tire. dont be afraid to pull some panels out and look around.

some people are also doign custom sidewall fiberglass enclosures in the trunk for good sound. that way you keep the functionality of the flood of the trunk in tact.

check out the audio and electronics forum over at S2ki

for lots of good info.

good luck...they are challenging cars to get sounding good. imaging for bothsides is nearly imposible. you can get one siude with a time delay...but then the other side sounds WAY off.

Thanks for the help so far. Now I found the stealth box for the S2000 by JL, but it is wired for a 3ohm load. Now I never had anything hooked up to an odd ohm such as 3 or 1.5 and most average amps don't say anything about their stability at that load. But I assume that if they are stable for 2ohm then they will be fine and put out somewhere between their 4 and 2 ohm ratings, correct? Any good amps for this? I was actually going to see if I can find a 4 channel for him and run 2 channels to some comps up front and bridge the other 2 channels for the sub. Any ideas for comps too? And what size are they stock anyways? Thanks alot again.

I sort of figured that but I believe I probably found the perfect amp for him:

What do you think? 75x2 to push his comps and then 400x1 @ 2ohms should push that 300watt @ 3ohm sub about perfect, right?
