componet question

Default componet question

how would my componets sound running off of my head unit without an amp? the head unit is the alpine cda-9835. just getting tired of the stock speakers and head unit. thanks

don't bother getting components if you're not going to externally amp them.

Yeah, even if you can only afford a cheap little 2-channel thats 10X's better than just off a aftermarket deck. I mean for the time being you can run it off your deck if you choose to, but a lot of times underpowering a speaker can damage it worse than overpowering a speaker. B/C underpowering it will sometimes cause distortion, and then there goes your new component set.

you'll notice that the sound will be better, but there bill be a significantly better sound when the components are amped

The only distortion that comes from underpowering a speaker is when you send the amp into clipping, generating a square wave, and sometimes 2 or 3x the output. If you set your gains right or dont crank the volume, underpowering is not dangerous in the least. I've run my ed12a on a 500/1 for about a year now... 12a is ~1000 wrms... 500/1 sure isnt. If you put a high rms speaker on a lower rms amp, with set gains it should never harm it.

thanks for the help guys. i will most likely just put them in for now till i get ml jl 450/4 for them. does anyone have any other suggestions on amps
