Default Mach1000

Well i got a Mach1000 audio system in my mustang right now and im thinking of upgrading to a little better equipment but retain the stock head unit and the stock amplifiers and subwoofer boxes.

for those of you who dont know about the Mach1000 is consistes of 6 speakers, 2 sub-woofers, and 6 amplifiers. with a custom enclosure in the truck to house 4 of the amps and the 2 subwoofers which are 10" in size.

now what i was wanting to do is replace the 10's with a better set like kicker, or alpine. but once again i want to retain the factory amplifiers. and i was also wanting to replace the speakers through out the car which in clude 4 in the front doors and 2 on the rear deck. i know replacing the front and rear speakers wont be a problem cause i can get speakers direct fit to the holes and get the harness to convert the plug jack into the 2 wire to plug into the speakers.

the subs are the real question, i just dont want to have and rip out all the Mach audio system just to install the new stuff. any help would be great guys.

Good Luck, It will be a hard thing to do. The subs that are in there are meant for that enclosure. Also, I am not 100% sure on what impedance is on the subs in there now. Also your amps probably do not have enough power to push any aftermarket sub, except for maybe a low quality one.

Your best bet is to either replace everything, or just keep what you got. It sounds good in there now, if it were me I would just leave it be.

The factory amps are designed to work with the factory speakers/subs and vice versa. Meaning, the speakers play at different ohm loads and the amps are crossed at different points. You might be able to throw some aftermarket speakers on them, but who's to say how long they'll last, not to mention they'll more than likely sound worse than factory. The only right way to do it is replace the entire system....deck, amps, and speakers.

i know alot about audio but i just never had any experiance with these systems. the Mach460 systems are easy to upgrade. i think i might just go and get some MB Quart components and do a nice sound stage and leave it be.

Even if you replace the factory door speakers and what not, it may still not sound to good. They have factory crossovers which are almost impossible to bypass, and aftermarket speakers have their own crossovers, so if I was you I would just leave it be. I have a friend who has the Mach1000 and it sounds pretty damn good.
