A head unit with a video out... and I dont mean an indash...

Like on a lot of home theater recievers, you plug your vcr video in, dvd video in, whoknows whatever in, and it has one video out, and then you select what you want, and it will adjust, and output for you.

I'd really like a head unit that had a video out, and an on screen display. So you could hide the head unit, or not.. and have it output to a screen, and have everything display on the screen like fm station, volume etc.

But I'm betting thats going to be more mp3 computer in car than any head unit ever.

but it has a color screen but looks liek the biolite display (its like the same display but color)

they have the DVA-7996 out its kinda old but does the same thing (plays DVD's from one DIn and you hook it up to a monitor, etc)

oh yea btw the new unit is supposed to be HD radio ready and stuff..

i don't see it on the alpine website (they are kinda slow to update)

i saw it in this month's truckin under the 30 must have mobile audio equipment thing

 

I mean like a regular head unit that has a video display output. It'd be kinda like a in dash lcd, but without the lcd attached.

Its hard to describe (obviously ) But I was thinking, have the screen mounted in my dash, like a regular tv, always on. Then the hea dunit mounted somewhere else, glove box or center console. But with the video out, you could see the status of the head unit on the screen. LIke the screen in an all in one, but not attached. I dont want to chop apart an in dash for this, cause if It doesnt work, Im fucked.

this is kind of like it.

this is actually a very nice head unit, my friend has it in his maxima. very versitle.

 

A bunch of 4th generation maxima guys (since they have 3 DIN's) get a double din screen and a single din dvd/cd player like the dva-7996 or whatever. but i dont think any normal head unit (non-dvd player) will have it. If your curious I can post up and see which dvd head units they all have that display it.

Looks very nice but for a retail of 1600 bucks...i better be gettin a blowjob with that or something. Alpine has become a pretty decent mainstream brand at best. Theyre dropping features and dropping prices to appeal to Best Buy customers...like how all their 05 head units except the 9855 have 2 volt preouts.

Not much for what Jesse needs though, aside from the 1600 pricetag I doubt hes interested in it being all pretty if hes going to hide it in the glovebox. But that does look badass nonetheless. If I didnt already have my Eclipse CD8053 Id be very interested. good find!
