Default i know this is car audio, but i have a home audio question

My dad has this onkyo (sp?) reciever he got a while back for free, it turns on and everything, and it is LOADED will features. The problem is, it wont play anything, are there any local repair shops that could fix this semi cheep?

Some of the higher end recievers can be tricky. To be sure that it actually needs repair try this.

Make sure you have an FM antenna plugged in and select the tuner as the input. Do you have any volume? There might be an 'Speaker A' 'Speaker B' selector try that too.

If it works on the tuner but not on any of the inputs you may have to select the source(digital coax, optical, analog).

If you decide that it's broken I believe that sensuos sounds services onkyo stuff in house but you'll probably pay a pretty penny for it.

ok thanks, ill try messing with it more, there are like 20 jacks in the back of the thing and i wasnt trying them all, so i might have hooked it up wrong but i dont think so. any other advice?

pull the cover and check all the fuses... my yamaha home amp did the same thing... I had fuses on the output coils that drove the speakers... I doubt it has the same thing considering my amp is like 15 yrs old but you never know... would hate to pay someone to look at it and tell you a fuse is blown
