Hello...

I am looking for some suggestions on which head unit to use. I would like something with MP3 and maybe XM. Want to be in the 300 dollar range. What have you guys had luck with?

Alpine and Pioneer are 2 good bets, CDA-9827 runs closer to 300 and is mp3 and xm ready. Pioneer DEH-P4600MP is XM ready and mp3 and will run you closer to 200. (Assuming you can find the tuner box for XM for either brand, which is getting harder to come by these days).

And im a lil tipsy in my dorm so i cant really think of a lot of other brands, good luck though

By the way, I just saw your profile...where in Palm Harbor are you from? I am at UF now but I graduated from palm harbor univ. high school class of 04, and i used to live in westlake village, right near the high school.

eclipse has an mp3 player now? only took 5 years to make one integrated into the deck!

gotta give props out to claion, dual 24bit D/A converters when alpine and pioneer ussually have only one.

 

Id go wit pioneer, they make bad ass cd players for the money.

I wouldnt mind about the XM function unless your ready to buy the tuner box and pay the $9.99 a month for the service. Your probably better off buying the car tuner that mounts on your dash or somewhere else in the car so you can carry it from your house to you car because I know if I pay $9.99 for music I better get to listen to it as much as I want wherever I want

Search ebay for pioneer decks. Youll get a nice selection in the $300 range
