Default Hooking up amp for highs..

So I finally dug up my MTX 4-channel amp and my 2/4 channel crossover from boxes (after all this moving)..

What is best way to hook up this 4-channel amp to factory speakers, while locating the amp in the rear of the Jeep? I'm assuming to run 4 pairs of speaker cable from the amp to the headunit, and hooking it up to the HU harness.

Any thoughts? I've never setup a 4-channel amp on factory speakers before.

Yeah that'd be easiest being all your leads are already up there. I'd take two things into consideration though, a. the factory speakers are probably pretty shitty and can't handle alot of power, and b. make sure the factory speakers aren't presenting some wacky ohm load which could inturn fry your amp.

Good point B. I'll research. I also just remembered that the factory has an amp for the highs/mids as well. I'll probably have to research bypassing that amp. Yay.

As far as the speakers, they are Infinity Gold series.. did come from the factory, but not the same paper cone factory crap.. but still, I'd imagine they don't take much power..

Why cut the factory wires when I can just run from the harness and leave everything else untouched.

I'm curious if I can bypass the factory amp, and splice in at that point, instead of running all the way up to the HU...

Hmm.

WOOT. This may help.

This amp is located under the rear seat. If I could just splice into this harness, I'd be good to go. Now to find the best way to accomplish that..

Dude, you're making this more complicated than it should be. I would cut the factory amp out completley, there's really no use for it, and patch everything through.

first pull the c2 connector and then test the ohm loads for the stock speakers. if you have a bunch of 1 ohm speakers this isnt going to be fun

That's what I'm talking about. Since the amp is in the rear, that really makes things easier. Splicing into the amp harnesses (upon disconnecting them from the amp).

93ex - I'll do that this weekend. Hopefully everything pans out. :
