In the car audio world, there is no "best". And you bridge an amp by using the positive of one channel and the negative of the other (assuming it's a 2 channel amp).

my friend has 3 type r 12s in his rodeo, powered by the Alpine MRD-M1000. Too loud...drowns out the mids and highs. But the bass sounds real good.

Bridging all amps is basically the same, as John said, but when you wire the subs with the amp, make sure you dont go below the minimum ohm load the amp can handle. I blew up a sony xplod 1000 watt amp on my friends 2 12's cuz i thought it was 2 ohm stable.....its sony xplod...what was i thinking (sry GLintch)

I got a 475w rated [Fozgate] powering that sub now...

I just want more prower and sony claims to give 800W peak nad about 400W RMS - which is what i need.

Alpine TypeR is 400W RMS

Thank you I already got one 10' TypeR in a ported box fron CC - for unbelivable $177 with a box and warranty for 2 years!

Any one know how to tell if it's a 2ohm or 4ohm ???

I had a shop that i am not gopnna name hook up my rca to only one of the rear speaker wires - and that;s why i am havin trouble with my sony amp.

rca output was too weak - so rewire of the converter box is coming up.

You need an aftermarket HU. IMO, it's the first step in any system. I've yet to hear a decent sounding system on speaker level inputs. As far as the amp is concerned, Sony is lower end in the audio world...unfortunatley, the amp probably doesn't even put out what it's rated at. The RF (I'm assuming that's what you mean when you say "Fozgate") amp is probably better. First things first though, get an aftermarket HU and you'll hear a major difference.

Also, Alpine Type R 10's and 12's are dual 4 ohm, so when you wire just one of them, you'll either have a 2 or 8 ohm load.

So check the minimum ohm load the RF can handle, if its 2 ohms then stick with that amp, cuz ull most likely blow up the Sony amp at 2 ohms.

sony car audio is horrible, apn mrpm350 is a bad ass amp to go with type r 10's or 12's or the mrdm301 is good too, but i'm sayin screw type r's and i'm savin up for somethin even better type x's components are expensive as hell on those and the subs will prolly be too.
