It's ironic, but it seems like all the "flashy" HU's these days are on the low end as far as SQ goes.....and the plain jane basic ones usually rock. I guess if what you're going for is something that will enhance or compliment your interior that's cool, but the majority of the members in this forum rather have SQ over "looks." Just my opinion.

I'm not trying to put you down, but I've personally heard a MAJOR difference between HU's. I've had a little expereince with Panasonic (although not your model) and it just seemed "cheap". I use to think Pioneer was awesome until I switched out my friend's with an Alpine and it blew the Pioneer away.

I think Kenwood Excelons and Pioneers have a nice cross between looks AND performance.

Oh and john as for the alpine vs. panasonic vs. pioneer. I like my panasonic a lot more than i liked my old pioneer. As for alpine vs. panasonic, yeah alpine has more features but i havent heard a better sounding alpine. I jus love my pan

I've liked my midrange Pioneer unit. Much better than my parents' midrange Alpine head unit- I can't stand the interface or the looks, I would never buy one if it was as annoying to use as theirs is. I'll have to try out a high-end model before I can pass final judgement on them, but I'll probably be looking more towards Eclipse or a higher-end Pioneer when I look for an MP3 headunit.

i've always liked pioneer and alpine... aiwa used to make good stuff though i haven't heard shit from them lately... other than those three i don't know diddly about head units... i've always been of the opinion that a head unit is a head unit, as long as it plays cd's and doesn't skip every twelve seconds (like a friend of mine's blaupunkt does) i'm good with whatever.
