Default wiring problems

When I bought my car it had no radio so I just bought one a few days ago and started to install it. I hooked up all the wires and started the car.. turned the cd player on........waited.... nothing.

So I checked the fuses and one was missing, turned out to be the one for the radio! So one trip to walmart later I have my fuse in and i try the cd player again... nothing! Ok so I look at the fuse and its blow..

So I replace with another fuse.. start the car... blown.

Now I dont know a whole lot about this thing so I call my friend. He says a wire somewhere in between the cd player and fusebox is grounded. Also, my cig light doesnt work... so he said it may be the cig lighter...

Anybody have any ideas? Im gonna take apart my center console tomorrow or the next day and unplug the cig lighter to see if thats it. But if that doesnt work I have no idea what to do so any input would really be appreciated cuz im SO done with driving in silence!

If all else fails you could run the radio directly to the battery. Just make sure that when you get out of the car that you turn the deck off. As for helping with the other problem there is nothing else other than to just dive in there and look for touching wires or someone else's shity wire work.

Sounds like a short somewhere. I'd double check all the wiring and make sure nothing is exposed.

It is a short in your wiring. May when you were hooking up the connection a stray wire is touching the frame/cage of the radio. But also there are two fuses for radios. one is in the fuse box inside the car. The other is under the hood.
