Default CD Changer in facotry Ford head unit

Ok, a previous post stated that my wired remote to the 10 disc cd changer is broke. Well i bought the explorer for traveling purposes and im pissed i dont have a CD player that works. and i frankly dont want to replace the head unit. I was looking at somone who had the same make and year explorer as i do with a factory CD changer.. and its a 6 disc changer that came stock in the same spot my is. Now mine is a sony 10 disc.

On the stock controls in the front there is a button for CD... so i was curious if you can hook the sony 10 disc into the stock head unit so i can just hit the CD button and it work.. is there a way?

Well I dont think you understand what the problem is heh.

I just bought this car.. it had a 10 disc sony cd changer in it when I bought it... aftermarket cd chanter. it has a wired remote that travels up to the front and is attached with doublesided tape under the stock unit. To listen to CD's now i have to turn to 88.93fm and turn on the wired remote. BUT the wired remote is broke.

Now the stock explorers have a standard 6 disc changer. And the stock head unit has a button for CD.. if you push it it says no cd installed. Now.. i was wondering if i could hook up the 10 disc changer to the stock unit eliminating the wired remote that is broken. Kinda use the sony one as the "stock" cd changer just hit the cd button on the stock unit to listen to CD's i have had 3 people say i cant... and 2 say i can... but i dont know.

well, Im going to side with "get the ford removal tools (or a coathanger bent right) and see if the plug matches up"

My feelings on this entire endeavor: whats wring with aftermarket? and sicne there is no adapter i canfind.. MAYBE it can plug in just fine... kinda makes some semblance of sense ya know.. since nobody make sone,, but kenwood/alpine/pioneer have adapters.... maybe not tho.. since panasonic clarion and (maybe) sony dont...

I would say pull the HU and check.. solve the problem with 2 hours of work.. probably less
