Stereo Install finished!
$500 to tune it? seems kinda pricey
I saw one of you install pics in the other thread but I'm wondering how you made that box? It doesn't appear to be fiberglassed into the car. Is it? And how many cubic ft. is the box for those subs?

I did not make the box for the car - everything was made by a company up in Kentucky - I am no carpenter.
Nothing is fiberglassed onto the car at all, I am not sure on the dimensions of the box for the subs.. its not as big as it looks on the pictures, the cover makes it seem like its a humongous box down there.
If any of you have any other recommendations to take it to get tuned I'd gladly appreciate it. Right now I cannot turn it up withut it distorting - They even said themselves it would sound serious once its tuned and good to go... I'd like to get into competitions and what not with the system if possible

It takers a highly trained ear to adjust the RTA's
I have 2 1/3 octave RTA's behind each seat... they hook it up to a computer which uses a microphone to analyze the frequency's, which is not always perfect either due to something on the interior resonating, harmonic distortion, etc..
I've been doing a little reading as we speak so I can get the system tuned to the best that I can right now so it does not distort
Their rate is $75/hr from what the guy in the front desk told me, I honestly don't know of any other place locally qualified to tune all of this... I would like it all perfect if possible which is going to take alot of work. I personally do not have $500 to shell out on making my stereo sound top notch, obviously its not a priority right now, but when I do it will be to qualify into audio competitions, and hopefully make my money back.

Sensuous sounds is a great place to go but 500 duckets is alot.
As far as getting to not destort a pretty easy way to do this would be to set all your eq settings to 0, exactly in the middle. Turn off any bass boost or what not you may have on your amp. Turn your gains all the way down turn your HU up to ~90-95% then slowly turn your gain up until you hear distortion then back it down just a little bit. This may not win you any comps but it shouldn't destort.
