ok well my buddy is looking at buying a 1991 prelude SI 2.1l 4cyl. its a 5speed and its really clean. its got a swapped in motor out of the same generation car only like 1 year newer with 60k on it (same size motor it originally had)

and he said just recently it started blowing white smoke on startup but once it warms up it goes away. he said he hasnt put but 30 miles on the car in the last year and that it wasnt smoking when he stopped driving it.
So my question is
1. is it a good deal if my buddy could get it for 2200-2500
and
2. white smoke is caused by a bad headgasket? just from sitting? cracked cylinder head?

Thats way too much for a 91 econobox that doesn't even have its original motor in it and is burning coolant. Just because these peopl think their shit is gold doesn't mean it actually is.

I wouldn't pay 2200 for a 1991 Honda Prelude on its second motor no matter how clean it was. Talk him down eblow 2 and I'd say its a fair deal, if the Prelude is a car that your friend really has their mind set on.
