What would you think of a RWD Civic?
Do you think Honda would or even should ever develop a RWD Civic? Or do you think the Civic is by far their standing sporty-econo car that they wouldn't even give this a thought?

I see people out there spending money on the car to improve it … If you spend half that effort just working on your driving skills, making you and the car work together as a team, then you’ll go faster – period. To make the car go a second faster on the track takes a lot more energy and money than making yourself drive it one second faster.

They have made them AWD before and I'm sure they will do it again but I doubt the Civic will ever become mass produced as a RWD car. There are pros and cons about every type of drivetrain but the AWD and FWD are what Honda sees as practical. If you notice there sporty models have every different drivetrain. FWD, RWD, AWD and some of these models even have the SH system. But none of the economy level cars are being produced as RWD.

^exactly. They even said they were dropping the plans for the rwd nsx they were gonna put into production because it's not practical at this time. The civic needs to remain front wheel and be offered all wheel as a special package like the ferio in japan. I would totally go for an awd civic. But I don't see a rwd civic happening any time soon.

I like the idea of an AWD Civic - as long as it would be a true one and not as Drama has pointed out - because FWD cars are very popular in states where there is winter weather so it would make sense that an AWD Civic would do well in that market.
Or at least to me it would.
As for RWD in a Civic after a few discussions this weekend I basically am along the lines of it it isn't a V8 then RWD is basically a waste when looking at something as being "sporty" as the Si is thought of.
I mean people like the new Camaro, they are everywhere you look these days, but people will turn around and say, yea but that is the V6 version. Blah. Blah. Blah.

Yeah but that is the v6 version with more power than nearly every other car on the market that isnt grossly more expensive. 22k and 304 hp in a rwd coupe..you cant beat that.

There are plenty of l4 fr cars that are awesome, so I don't think fr is just for v8s.
As far as the civic goes, I just want them to be small, light and dual-wishbone again. The new ones are real porkers and the soul is just completely gone.
