Rosemont, IL — The Muscle Car and Corvette Nationals Show, coming Nov. 23-24 to the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont, Ill., will again feature the rarest and most sought-after examples of pure American Muscle and Corvette — with an emphasis on the cars of the 1960s and 1970s.

Last year’s 10th anniversary event played host to well over 500 cars from 29 states and several countries. Here are five reasons to visit this year:

  1. Family friendliness. Fun (and free) activities to get kids interested in cars will include a model car “make and take,” Hot Wheels racing, a scavenger hunt, coloring contests and The Muscle Bicycle Show featuring vintage Schwinn Sting-Rays and Krates along with many other banana seat bikes.

  1. The Bullitt Mustang. As part of the Mecum Experience display at the event, get an upclose look at cars coming to Mecum’s Kissimmee auction in January 2020 — including the original Highland Green 1968 Mustang that was the actual Bullitt movie car, driven by Steve McQueen.

  1. Vintage Certification Program. A MCACN exclusive, this intense judging and inspection process focuses on preservation instead of restoration as a team of marque experts pore over vehicles to document build techniques on original, untouched and unrestored cars. Awards and certificates are issued in five levels, including the coveted Vintage Time Capsule category for vehicles that are 95%+ unrestored in all areas. Included in this year’s registrations are several first generation Camaros, a Chevelle, a 1964 Plymouth Belvedere, a 1966 Corvette, a Grand Prix and a 1969 Hurst/Olds along with several 442s.

  1. Shirley Shahan. Joining MCACN as a special guest, Shahan is among the most respected and legendary racers of the late 1960s and 70s. Known as the Drag-on Lady, she was the first female to win an NHRA event in 1965, and is a member of both the Drag Racing Hall of Fame and the International Motorsports Hall of Fame. She’s bringing two of her drag racers.

  1. Cars Owned by Vietnam Veterans. This special tribute also includes cars linked to the Vietnam War, including the unveiling of the newly-restored Lawman Boss 429. Related to this exhibit, active military members can get free one-day admission to MCACN Nov. 24 by presenting a military ID.
