I have an 80 El Camino that is about to be finished with the swap, 95 camaro lt1. I am going to run dual exhaust with the x-pipe, but I would like to know what mufflers I should get. I want the nice throaty sound of a good old american hotrod with a loping (sp) idle, but I also don't want to be offensivly loud.

I would say Flowmaster 2 chamber 40 series, but they may be a little to loud for you.

 

the Flowmaster Delta flows are a quiet version of the regular flowmaster sound

 

I want it nice but not so loud that I am a cop magnet.

 

i got a 40 series flowmaster on my hemi ram and i love the sound. borla sucks in my opinion, i know this one guy who has em on his hemi ram and u cant even hear anything.

 

Dynomax Super Turbos. I have 'em on my car, it sounds good, but it's not offensively loud. They're still 3 chamber, so they'll do you good on the low end power band too.
