Where are they now
Where are they now
I noticed a thread a few days ago talk about Gandy and how it sucks so bad and if there was anywhere else. I started recalling some of the old places we would go to race. Scherer Dr. off Roosevelt Blvd was a pretty good place Fri nights after Sunshine. Guys would leave the track and take their cars off the trailers and race again. Almost got killed one night watching a couple cars leave the line, a bike geek decided he wanted to see if he could catch the cars racing and almost ran me over from behind. Another was on the interstate downtown, guys would set up races at the old Steak and Shake on 34th st. I know this goes back some years, but anyone else recall these places? Or post up some that you remember.

Even just Gandy was totally different 6 or so years ago. It was mainly older cars (at least the ones we hung out with). Some were trailored and some were street driven. The cops rarely hassled us. I remember when the big deal was that you had to be behind the telephone poles. As long as you were, they left you alone. People would be hanging onto the "Entering Hillsborough County" sign with a wad of cash to see who won
Other old school places: Tyson, Checkers, Causeway,Crosstown, etc.
Not quite the same anymore Oh well.

Ohh, and can't forget about Seabreeze, Checkers on Causeway, 84 Lumber, The Dallas Bull, the Crosstown and a few others. It was nice being able to go out 5 nights a week to a spot and find money runs.
And I have no idea what you were talking about, hanging onto the "Welcome to Hills. County" sign on Gandy?
