Default wheel fitment on 99 mustang GT

The car is a 99 GT with a Cobra IRS under it, the car has been lowered about 2 inches with Steeda springs.

I'm looking to replace the rear 10th anny wheels with 17x10 anny wheels and a larger size tire, but i'm not sure how big I should go on the tire size, I use the car on vacations and such and don't want to have rubbing issues.(currently 17x9 with 275X40 tires)
Any ideas?

These are the wheels

315s fit fine. Had them wrapped on my 17x10 Bullits. 315/35/17 - 275/40/17 is the common staggards I see. The backspacing should be fine it that was your main question here.

The second number is the thickness of the sidewall, therefore the 40 is a meatier tire than the 35. But yeah I dont think you will notice too much of a change from a 40 to a 35, about a quarter inch
