I know you don't want to run in the heat of the day(12pm-3pm) but what about other times. I was thinking either early morning(which I do now) or at night. I know at night the temp is much cooler but has more humidity. Now at night would the track hook more than an early TnT? I was thinking of running a night TnT. Anyone run both and notice a difference? Just curious. Thanks -Mark

I prefer mornings, but if it is a fairly dry night humidity wise, don't think the track would hook any better, if a track get's TOO cold it won't help you out either..

It seems the best time for me is a few hours into the morning especially if it is sunny or a few hours before it gets dark. My reasoning for this is in the morning the track will have heat in it to help with traction and the air temp will still be reasonable. Then the pre-evening time is when the sun / radiant heat is lower but the track still has heat in it from the day.
This was our logic back in our Sprint car days.
Now if you can find a bright sunny day with cool (60-70) air temps watch out ! The track will usually hold all day.
The worst (for me anyway) seems to be from noon till 4-5 p.m. and night time. During the mid-day tiimes the track seems to get greasy from to much heat and the evening tend to be greasy as well because of no heat.
Now if you car does not depend upon 60ft. times (insert bad 60ft. cars here) then I would venture to say a cold night would be perfect.

Personally, Mark I've always thought it was best when it wasn't raining or snowing. :)
I never really did care about the temp or the humidity...except as far as it affects my comfort between races. I know it affects your times and all but it affects everyone elses too. So on any given day, it should cancel out. Having a blower car, it supposedly has a worse effect on me than turboed or n/a cars but I try not to let that bother me. The "BEST TIME" thing is really overrated. What is important is how quick your car is overall in all conditions and just like you drive it on the street. It really puts a damper on things when a car with a slower "best" time at the track kicks the crap out of you everytime on the street.
Other than that...what they said up there. :D
