I've always been a strong supporter of Magnaflow exhaust.
MagnaFlow Exhaust Products - For Trucks, Suv's, American Muscle, Diesel, & Sport Compact Vehicles

However... the Autotech and Techtonics systems do the job well for cheaper... but just don't sound quite the same.
Mk4 Jetta : Techtonics Tuning, Watercooled VW Performance Parts, Audi Performance Parts specializing in exhausts and camshafts
Autotech SportTuning-VW PERFORMANCE EXHAUST SYSTEMS Mk4 1.8t, Mk5 2.0T

Or you could fab your own pipe system, use Magnaflow muffler and resonator and get a healthy growl while saving money. Plenty of other options, too.

^ this...

also the borla mufflers sound really good with custom piping.

im a big fan of the older GHL exhaust kits but the only way to get those now are used. The reason the new GHL systems suck is because they were bought out and the new company kept the original name but the quality went down the shitter.

MaxPSI is an amazing exhaust.. Other then he finally went out of business this month. Sad to see him go. He made and sold his exhaust at practically no profit.

just got a 42dd exhaust for my gti. No complaints, pretty quiet for a 3" exhaust.

This is a bit old but the info will be useful to someone down the road...

I had a nureuro, but customer service sucked. For the price it was amazing. The same exact kit is sold tons of places... like here....
