o2 sensor just went out

Default o2 sensor just went out

is there any real reason to replace this thing?

yes. In most cars, the ecu uses information from the o2 sensor for adjusting fuel trims. Without this input, the ecu will likely revert to a default setting, likely causing poor fuel economy and a loss in drivability.

If those things do not bother you and the yellow light doesn't piss you off, sure, drive around, it'll probably be ok.

Fuel sensors is going to determine your fuel ratio. Kinda important to prevent from running too rich or too lean. In other words you're are probably going to be getting some shitty gas mileage.

Definitely need to replace it. Not only will it hurt gas mileage, but it will probably affect HP and torque (especially below full throttle) and can make your catalytic converter burn up/get clogged.
