I have an older 1kwatt amp, it cuts in and out during play. But it doesnt lose power. It just pulses, and seems to not want to produce bass. I broke it open, and looked but nothing seemed wrong with the board. What could be the issue?
And yes it has brand new wiring/fuses so thats not the issue.
Thanks in advance,
-Mike
check the wiring and ground points anyways!

I have bro, It only does it with this amp. My other amp works fine. Im thinking that something may be wrong with the amp itself, but as I said. The board looks fine. I didnt see any damaged resistors or cracks in the board.

Well if it only does it with that amp, it's the amp. Problem solved. And you usually can't "see" anything wrong with an amp unless you caught the thing on fire. Sounds like you're just going to be stuck buying a new amp.

Cant you have amps reconditioned? Or am I mistaken?

It does it all the time, its internally cooled with a fan though. Everything kicks on fine, but it doesnt want to play. It will play the tune but once bass hits the first time it will cut in and out.

Amp repairs usually cost so much, you're better off just getting a new amp.

+1
Though, I fear it still may be with the wiring. Take all the other amps out of the picture. Only put in that amp. Fixed? Try putting in another amp, if it still works, recheck wiring while putting in third (assuming you have that many).
Still have the issue? Might just be the amp itself. Get a new amp! new technology rocks, the market doesn't.

Protection lights? What ohm load are you running? Bridging the amp? Ohm load may be too low for this "older" amp...

dude what it sounds like u dont have the amp wired right you said it was a older amp what ohm rating are ur subs and and what can the amp do alot of older amps cant run in 2 ohms and can check how many ohms your subs and putting out with a volt meter and it can also be a bad ground or the power wire is too small and cant get the wattage needed to run the amp.Just trying to help look in to these things.

Try stepping down the "bass boost" or "gains" whichever your amp may have....could be that its clipping on ya?

Any updates?

Tried and made sure I had everything wired correctly. My other to smaller amps will power on fine, but this one just wont work. As for the gains, they are set all the way down anyway.

+1 Ohm rate WILL effect the amp. I had the same problem with one of my older amps, turns out that the amp wasn't able to run at 1ohm, try switching it to 4ohms at the least. If the problem still occurs then its time for a new amp.
