I recently picked up an 88 Supra Turbo. My first Toyota and my first non-RX-7 sports car. Have to see how long this lasts.. heh.. I do like the car though.

hi...95 toyota tercel here...no mods as of yet...best of 18.7 at 74 mph...Im hoping to find a big bucket of money someday and buy either a supra (are they all hype?) or a beautiful rx7.

93+ Supras arent much hype at all. There arent too many cars that can get 400hp to the ground after intake exhaust and boost controller. And theyre pretty reliable too. Not quite bulletproof like the owners would have you believe but very strong. There are ways to keep a rotary just about as reliable but regular maintenance is easy to forget..

I think the RX-7 looks better though :)

haha. I cant afford another car. Man that tercel has 135000 miles on it and a killer 78hp at the crank. I cant even spin the tires on an oil puddle after it rains. =) Itll haul balls on the innerstate though. Its great to watch someone fly past you then I punch it hit 115 creep up by them & slow down to 108 they try to pass but the speed limitor kicks in and I slowly pull away laughing. :evil:

hey im in south lakeland too. i live right by GJHS if ur wondering. ive probably seen ur car around. i have the blue camry with white rims that has a for sale sign on it now. basically the only camry modded (besides those ghetto bling bling ones)

yeah i was taking some pictures over there i remember.

im tired of it and i want something that i can make faster. even though i have college coming up in 3 months i still can use the summer to do small things and keep it in order (my next car which i will not tell til i buy it).

i also want a manual. i hate my auto its no fun. and face it since theres no way ill ever get 3000 anytime soon im not going to swap the camry.

I garuntee you can sell it in Orlando. 3000 isnt that much. How many miles are on it? You should just drop in a 5speed. It sucks because my Grand Am has a v6 but no 5speed option with it. Do you like racing? I think If you like drag racing better buy the American car because they have big engines on car and a lot of modefy parts. If you like auto crossing or others buy small compact cars.

How true!! There are no fast imports out there... ;)

Does the 86fc in your name mean 86 RX-7?? If so I know why you dont think imports are good for drag races. My first RX was an 87 GXL so I feel your pain. When my FD is complete I expect trap speeds in excess of 120 - not bad for a car that can still be driven on the street with no NOS and with a 1.3L engine...

ahh cool yeah u came up behind me on scott lake road on that big S curve and i was taking it pretty nicely around 65 (in a 40 haha) and when i turned i gave u the thumbs up just so you could hit it. i did notice a rather nice looking woman with you too heheh! :D

yeah a few guys i know drive a red mr2 turbo a green 98 240sx (very very very fast for all motor *secrets*) a pea green turbo civic black turbo accord (rims were stole so hes on stockers again)..and a few others. i dontreally know the girl but she went to my school (jenkins-i gradiated tho!)

yeah u me and chismoe should meet up sometime so we can get some lakeland people going. also wheres ur salvage yard at? got any camry stuff? if so i need some before i sell (door handles lock actuator coin box)

I know this is for the toyota club but i read one of the post that said and import is not fast on the drag strip. Well consider this an import fully done up will still use less fuel then any american car with no modifications. And if you think a 9sec quarter in slow then i hope your driving something that does it in the 6s or faster cause i tell you my friends 2000 civic hatch turbo tunes people in z06s trans ams he also beat a cobra mustang running a 300 shot of nos. Yeah he put a lot of money into it but at least he can beat all cars out on the street. Just thought i let you know whats going on in tampa. By the way Craig Paisley runs a stock bottom end on his supra with like 700 horses to the wheels i guess you can say a supra has a damn strong engine. And supras are the shit.

Well I agree that imports are fast at the drag strip but as far as good gas mileage well...

My Rx7 runs 12.00 @114 but only gets 12mpg on a good day.
Bottom line is youre gonna have to trade off somethingspeed or gas mileage.We all want a 10 sec monster w A/Cfull leather interiorgood looksand 25mpg.

Yeah thats true but it will never compare to an american car when it comes to gas milage. Yeah some go extremely fast but they are not street legal and they do gallons to the miles not the other way round. But i just thought i spread some information on the topic because it sounded as if they are saying an american car is better to build up for racing.

Supras kick ass but the S4(audi for those who dont know) will do some serious ass kicking with only 5000$ into it and full interior.Now thats what i call a sick car.

What it boils down to is that N/A cars get better gas mileage.A turbo or supercharged car is gonna suck gas whether it american or not.I second that on the S4.My girl was looking at an A4 and I got an opportunity to check out the s4.They had a nice one with race seats in it and everything.It was bi-turbo AWD for around 30k .Its gonna be a monster in the right hands.

Hey NSX I think I remember you.. you used to post on the RX-7 forum right? I was an active member about a year ago (mostly in the 2nd gen section I know those cars too well) but dont really post much there anymore.

I didnt know you own a salvage yard... you wouldnt have some interior pieces for an 88 Supra would you? There are few plastic pieces and the center console cover that I need to find. Seats might be nice too but theyre probably going to cost too much for me.

I know what youre saying about mileage too.. my 90 TII got around 16-18 mpg stock and no more than 10 or 11 after a street port and turbo upgrades. It was too fun though... :D So far the Supra claims about 17 mpg could be worse..
