I know some people that have done some interesting things with them.
How serious are you about performance? do you just want a little extra power or would you consider either forced induction or motor swap?

Go to this link it is a forum on www.moparchat.com specifically for neons.
http://www.moparchat.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?s=&forumid=15
There are tons of other sites out there like Hahn RaceCraft: http://www.turbosystem.com has a turbo kit but some members have not nic things to say about Mr. Hahn... YMMV err.. Your Mileage May Vary.. :)

Wasnt satisfied with my last reply so I thought about it for a minute and the best place for performance PARTS for a neon.. is Mopar Performance!
http://www.mopar.com/m_perf_parts_product.jsp?categoryID=16378
That will take you straight to the neon section...
Hope I have helped...

I was going to recomend Hahn Racecraft. There is a guy in miami that does motor swaps I think the call him capt. Nemo but im not sure. RB70383 should be able to help you out a little.
Do you know if its the same engine they used in thr previous body style?
If it is I have a friend that swapped in the 2.4 and is getting a turbo manifold from the mexican version of that engine.
Next time I talk to him Ill send him this way.

Try these guys
http://www.forwardmotioninc.com/
Forward motion. They are big with the turbo dodges and as of this weekend they have the fastest neon out there after only 2 trips to the track with it.... 10.18 @ 134. Mike DeMoss owns the place is is pretty sharp with cars.

The ACR engine is just the twin cam motor nothing else special.

That is a good point Ken There are many performance parts out there for the single cam engine too the twin cam is known to be a little more revvy... better top end but the single cam is slightly better for lower end grunt.
I think you may find that certain turbo setups or aftermarket parts will only be available for one engine or another... do as much research as you can before spending (possibly) unnecessary money on a swap.

Not sure if there is a pic or not. Its in the delaware area. I believe it was run at Cecil county track in Maryland.
As for the twin cam v/s the single cam. Yep... twin cam flows more at higher horsepower. but both are rated at 150 hp stock. Twin cam is also more fragile.

At the same Meet FMs (GLHS)car ran a 10.6 @ 132. A little slower than the neon but not bad considering the 8 valve car was giving up a 400lb weight advantage. FM built both cars.

not sure what that neon has in it but check this out http://www.turbosystem.com/Hahn_Automotive/Neon/World_s_Quickest/SOHC_Neon/sohc_neon.html
that is the Hahn RaceCraft page for the SOHC (base) neon engine... They put on the turbo kit PLUS a bunch of other parts and ran almost a 13 flat with an automatic transmission.
That is awesome performance out of a neon thats all I know.
That is fast by anyones standards.
