Default New '86 Mustang GT Auto

Buddy of mine is getting an '86 Mustang GT today.
Yeah I tried to talk him out of it, but he is a Ford guy.
Obvoiusly, we want to fix it up. Would like to see if someone has a list of mods they have done to theirs or someone else has done. Not sure if this will be mild or wild yet, you can probably guess which I'm pulleying for.
Info - 95% street use, auto, 178K(possibly rebuilt), no problems now

I'd do a maf conversion at first if he is going to keep it efi, that way it opens up his cam selection alot more,gt-40 heads and lower intake, some longtubes.Get rid of the stock restrictive intake box,put some gears in the rearend maybe 3.73 or 4.10.And a small shot of spray.

Thanks CE. I assume we will do a torque converter swap also.
The more specific the better

lol I know but you asking what someone would do is different than what he might want to do.He should put a small torque converter in it maybe like 200-2300 depending on how crazy he wants to go,Im going with a 3500-3700 but its not going to be a DD and its not a sb.

I'd def go with the gt-40x heads with the gt40 lower intake and a maf swap though.

don't forget about the 86's having the flat top pistons with no valve relief's
If it still has the original motor in it

It appears that the GT40 heads don't work with it. Another head equally as good?
