Default Need Help no boost

Hey, just got an 04 evo 8 today and think it has a boost leak. The car is not pulling at all doesnt feel like 272hp. The intercooler looks dented, could it be the bov or diverter valve. All the hoses are tight, im not new to turbos just new to evos. And it seems that my old vw gti with a 1.8t was faster at only 180hp. would appreciate the help. thanks Rob

well if you dont have a boost leak tester get a spray bottle and fill it with soapy water. turn your car on and just start spraying at all the connections and clamps and by the dents on the intercooler. wherever it bubbles theres a leak

you could also be experiencing drivetrain power loss. Dont quote me on that but your gti probbly had more touque than the evo. Boost leak test it and find out what it turns out to be.

you dont hook up a boost gauge to check for boost leaks

you pressurize you intake system to about 25psi and you hear if any air is leaking out. check and retighten couplers, make sure all vacume lines and hoses are properly tight, then hook the tester up and pressure test it.
you can buy boost leak testers online fairly cheap.
try ebay.com
